About:
I am a part-time vagabond, an adventurer, a wayfarer, a modern nomad, a tramp, and a wanderer. Whatever you may call me, it all kind of adopts to my restless feet and the inability to stay still, the inability to stay in one place.
Sticking my thumb out on a road, waiting for a stranger to pick me up, expecting the unexpected. Hitting the pedals of my bike, letting my mind soar amid seemingly endless natural sceneries, losing myself. I am a hitchhiker – and a cyclist.
Throughout the years, I have lived, studied, and evolved in various places that I have eventually called home. Yet this kind of inner gravity has always brought me back to this one place and true passion of mine – the road. Whenever I am not traveling, I tend to look at maps and constantly dream of the adventures that might await me. However, just as much as I am trying to surrender to my insatiable wanderlust, packing nothing but a few possessions in my backpack, and accepting my moving feet as my only constant.
Today, I feel at home wherever I am with people that I get along with well; I suppose you could say I have a lot of homes. And still, I would probably always choose a couch, a hammock, a tent, or a piece of earth over renting a room somewhere. I am in love with the outdoors and the seemingly uncomfortable is what I often strive for while facing moments of happiness and fear.
Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses – and food may be one of mine, especially the varieties of it I haven't tried yet. Also, digging through trash is fun, sometimes even romantic. I would prefer a dumpster-dived self-cooked meal shared with friends over a five-star cuisine anytime. In fact, the perception of romanticism is yet to be reclaimed.
I want to be part of smashing this imperialist white supremacist capitalist heteropatriarchy and be there to watch infinite possibilities sprouting. Although a bit contradictory in some ways, my political views flow somewhere between the ones of an anarchist and a Marxist. Also, I would claim to be an anti-fascist, a feminist, and a no-border activist. I believe in the solidarity of space, a sort of solidarity of the simple, at an everyday human scale, beyond neoliberal nation-states and racist border regimes. This also means that I propagate unconditional freedom of movement as well as legal and safe passages to travel for all, while continually seeking to decolonize and critically reflect my own mindset, privileges, actions, and words. Nonetheless, I usually have a good tolerance for different people and behavior. You can be odd, if you want to, just be yourself. Unless you are a racist, sexist, nationalist, fascist, sexist, anti-semite, homophobe, or any other kind of idiot. If you are, I promise that we won't get along – ever.
I am the type of human who is constantly curious about everything. I try to act like a sponge when going to a new place I have never been to. I strive to immerse myself into every experience and soak my soul with its depth, enjoy getting lost, making the best out of any situation, and trying to find new ways. What fascinates me most, though, are the people I meet. I love spending time with people who inspire, who share, who infect with their ideas or just spread some good feel around them. After all, humans and happenstance are the best teachers. I guess you could say I am using travel as a sort of mechanism to grow, educate myself, exchange ideas, and see all the beauty this world has to offer. Embracing new experiences, endlessly changing horizons, and each brand new day as a way of living. Exploring what it means to be me every day, yet joyful to exist, trying to give myself a sense while struggling and fighting for freedom and justice. I have never felt more alive.
