Konstanz → Karlsruhe
Waited way past the 5min advertised time on Hitchwiki. Waited about 40min! Was giving up hope when a sportcar (Audi Quattro) waived to me and pulled over despite being three lanes away. Guy spoke no English but we figured things out and he agreed to take me to Hegau reststop despite that being past his route! Very kind of him!
Was losing hope as there were very few cars stopping at this gas station, and most pretended not to notice me. Finally a car pulled over- he wasn't sure if he was going past Karlsruhe, because he was just heading north via his GPS directions. But a quick check found us passing through my destination- awesome!

Bursa → Bornova/İzmir, Turkey
Stood at the place recommended on Hitchwiki but had no luck. Over an hour wait and finally the car that stopped could only take me a couple km down the road.
Another abnormally long wait, at what seemed a decent pickup spot, and was finally picked up by someone going to Karacabey. He dropped me off in Uluabat at a truck stop that should give me more of a direct route to Izmir.
Another long long wait, and was giving up hope when a friendly driver in an industrial van told me he was going straight to Izmir. He stopped along the way for food and paid for my meal despite my objections. Also called my friend in Izmir to coordinate my drop off/pick up and then double checked to make sure I got my destination safely. Very considerate.

Mtubatuba → Lavumisa
Don't hitchhike in South Africa they say- but what can you do when you can't find a ride into Swaziland? The girls at reception said that if I go to this place on the highway, I will find drivers to take me there. I arrived and it was deserted. So before my taxi left, I grabbed some cardboard and made me a sign. 25min later under a hot hot sun a large truck stopped. We… (read on in Trip)
